Our Philosophy
Smurfs Village is an exclusive childcare centre established in 2023 for babies and toddlers from birth to three years of age. Families choose between the Snuggle Smurf Nursery (0-12 months) and the Trailblazer Smurf Den (1-3 years), each with tailored routines that honour home rhythms while nurturing new skills. Our approach is inspired by the Reggio-Emilia philosophy, recognising children as capable, curious learners with unlimited potential. We provide opportunities to develop social-emotional skills, language, literacy, and problem-solving through hands-on, hearts-on activities that are both playful and purposeful.
Our curriculum is child-centred and child-directed. We follow the interests, ideas, and talents of the children, blending structured experiences with free play so that every learner has the freedom to explore while building essential skills such as communication, collaboration, and self-expression.
The Environment as the Third Teacher
The look and feel of our classrooms matter. We thoughtfully design each space to entice children to explore, interact, and gain independence. Infant rooms feature soft lighting, secure sleep pods, and sensory nooks, while toddler studios offer art ateliers, movement corners, and accessible self-help stations. Our educators curate areas for art, sensory discovery, dramatic play, and quiet reflection, ensuring that every child finds a place where they feel confident, respected, and inspired.
Our curriculum stays responsive to each cohort, blending intentional instruction with open-ended play so exploration, communication, and collaboration flourish. English guides daily routines, while Maltese traditions and the cultures of our families are woven into every experience so that each child sees their identity reflected.
